Stift Melk

The majestic ocher-colored complex perched on a 40m high rocky outcrop.

The Benedictine monastery has huge dimensions. The complex is over 300m long and has 497 rooms. Only a small part can be visited during a guided tour. The museum is located in eleven rooms, followed by the marble hall and the impressive library as well as the collegiate church, the highlight of the Baroque with masses of gold. So much pride and splendor is enough for the next time.

The town of Melk at the foot of the monastery, on the other hand, looks cozy and normal.
