A short visit to Huelva

Our next destination is Huelva. At the harbor entrance is a large Columbus statue. From here he started to the the new world.

A nice bike path leads into the city. The city itself we don’t like too much, but the old piers of the Rio Tinto Company are impressive. From here a railway ran 80 km to the mines on the Rio Tinto. In 1875, the bridges and the railway line were completed, they were 100 years in operation.

  1. Thank y ou! Living on the side of the world where many wish CC had never arrived is interesting in this day and age. And I never made the connection between Huelva and Rio Tinto. Pretty good engineering back in the day.
