Through Croatia

On the border between Hungary and Croatia we feel transported back to ancient times. Only four cars are in front of us. Nevertheless, it takes half an hour. Unfriendly border guards inspect the papers. Mind you, both states are members of the EU. They even inspect our RV from inside – they are looking for migrants. No controlls at all on the Croatian side. Later we are stopped again and the mobile home is searched for migrants. These officials (Croats), however, are friendly.

A new national park has recently been created in the Croatian Danube floodplains. We spend the night nearby and explore the Kopacki rit National Park by bike. The Danube has numerous side and dead arms, whose levels often rise several meters. The area is known for its abundance of animals and plants. Of course we only see a few egrets and swans.
