The Hungarian Floodlands of the Danube

We leave Budapest in southern direction and drive through the Danube floodlands of Gemenc, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left of the Danube. In the small town of Kalocsa nobody seems to be alive. Even in the pedestrian zone is hardly anyone, everything is closed and this on a Saturday afternoon at high noon!

We drive to the Danube bank a few kilometers away. Here it is more lively – a good restaurant and a wedding. It is a nice place, and it turns very quiet in the evening.

The Danube water is quite high and has certainly risen half a meter overnight.
