Like almost everywhere on the Italian coast, the railway line runs along the beach – beyond that comes the road, the houses and then the motorway. But there is the “Strada Panoramica Adriatico” south of Rimini. It leads high above the beach through the lush green foothills. It is so steep down to the beach that you do not even see it, but the blue Adriatic Sea.
South of Ancona there is the Via del Conero, which also leads southwards for a few kilometers high above the beach. Afterwards it is as usual: beach, railway, houses, street. We decide to drive a bit on the highway.
