Coleridge Cottage

Just outside of Taunton lies the small village of Nether Stowey. Here the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived with his family for three years. All Britons and Americans seem to know his poems – for us Germans he is completely unknown or are we just ignorant ?The cottage he lived with his family can be visited.

Opposite is a pub with the name of one of his famous works: “The Ancient Mariner”.

We are here in the Quantock Hills, a small hike brings us to the highest mountain of the area to the 385m high Wills Neck. From here you have a great view. Unfortunately, it is quite cool and it also starts to rain.
