Tintagel: Where History meets Legend

If we continue on our way, we will come to Land’s End, the tourist destination in Cornwall par excellence. The terribly narrow streets stop us from visiting and we continue along the coast.

Tintagel, the village and the ruin is associated with the legendary King Arthur, though there is hardly any certainty about whether he actually lived.

Tintagel Castle was the birthplace of King Arthur, the legendary King of the Round Table, so the legend says. It is situated on a rocky promontory, which has been inhabited for thousands of years. In addition to prehistoric traces, a whole series of settlements of the “dark age of England” were discovered.

In the village of Tintagel King Arthur is mercilessly marketed. You can find armors, Merlin figures and a lot of replicas of the holy Kral.
