Luckily we get hold of the last two places for the night at the big lock in Harlingen.

We only have to cross the large lock bridge to be in the historical center of Harlingen and its harbor.

Harlingen is situated right at the Waddenmeer. Even today the harbor is a very busy one. The largest crab fishing fleet of the Netherlands is situated here.

The glockenspiel in the tower of the baroque city hall playes at 10 o`clock at night since centuries the “Klokje van Gehorsaamheid” to tell everybody the city gates will be closed and all decent girls should be home by now.

There are more than 500 historic buildings, lots of them old store-houses.

We look at what comes along when we search for a nice restaurant for dinner.
