Today we will bike again.
We bike from Rivarennes to Langeais, a small village on the right side of the Loire – means we have to cross the river once again.
Here each small settlement has it’s “Chateau”. This one grows out between the houses with forceful towers. The high walls are topped with a parapet walk which is 130m long and has a machicoulis gallery of 171!
The castle courtyard can be reached via a draw bridge. This fortree wasn’t easy to attack!
But this is not what we want, we only like a fresh glas of beer!
The most important in the castle was the glamorous wedding of Charles VIII and Anne de Bretagne in 1491 with consequences for the history of France as well as Europe because with it Britanny went to France and not to the house of Habsburg.
