The weather is so beautiful today we decide to celebrate Yves’ birthday already today. The gift is a new gang-shirt!
We wind us down to Canazei, we need fuel and water. With the water we are succeed but not with the diesel. We trust there will be a gas station somewhen. Most of the shops in Canazei are open today but now we don’t want to shop. We want to climb Passo Sella.
Unfortunately today on Sunday many many others have the same idea. Impossible to get a parking space – once beacuse of the amount of cars and second because up here is a huge construction side for to built a new lift.
We enjoy the quick view to Piz Sasso Lungo and roll down into Val Gardena. We stop for Lunch at Plan de Gralba. It is much more quiet here. Doesn’t our Lunch look delicious?
Unfortunately the next gas station is very far down in Ortisei/St.Ullrich. That’s why we drive all the way down to the base of the valley and take the next on up.
After a deep Gorge the sunny meadows of Valley Villnöss open up with the high tips of the Geisler Group as border. Reinhold Messner grew up in this valley, here he learned to climb.
In the middle of a meadow sits a small church since 1744 St.Johann in Ranui. The specialtity is the unusual position of the steeple, it is turned 45° against the nave.
