October 23rd: Bordeaux

In spite of the bad weather forecast the sun is out! Obviously Bordeaux is a camper free city, no wonder there is no parking space at all. But 8km from the center is a newly built campground with an excellent signed-out biking track into the city! The city is very nice, 2007 it was declared as world heritage by the UNESCO.

The “Grand Theatre” is one of the most beautiful theaters of Europe.

The “Mounument des Girondins” with its statue of liberty is a unification of art and history. All sculpturs tell a story, you always find something new.

The cathedral is the largest church of Bordeaux and at least from the outside it is quite beautiful.

The three ladies of the fountain with the same name have pink scarfs around their neck and pink coloured water sputters out – or is it new Bordeaux wine?

The corniche invites to walk and to watch: Boys show their art in a large Skate Park. Why only boys? I could watch for hours.

The new Bordeaux Bridge “Bacalan-Bastide” looks very futuristic. Today the middle part gets mounted which will be accelerate after the completion to give large ships access into the harbour. What a construction!
